Utilization Technology Development

The APGA Research Foundation focuses on end-use research and development (R&D) through its membership in Utilization Technology Development (UTD).

UTD is a not-for-profit corporation led by its twelve members (including the APGA RF) who serve over 20 million natural gas consumers in 32 states and Canada.


UTD is a member-controlled partnership of natural gas distribution companies formed to conduct near-term applied research and to develop, test, and deploy energy efficient, environmentally friendly end use technologies. UTD's Mission

Identify, select, fund, and oversee research projects resulting in innovative customer solutions which maximize the environmental performance, affordability, efficiency and safety of equipment and processes that use natural gas and renewable energy resources.
